Console Repair Explained
What happens when you send your console for repair? Here is the full process, step by step.
Step 1: Initial Contact & Assessment
The process starts with a WhatsApp message to 087 550 2307. Describe the symptoms you are experiencing — for example, "my PS5 has no display output" or "my Xbox makes a grinding noise when I insert a disc." Include photos or short videos if possible, as they help us make a more accurate initial assessment.
We respond immediately, 24/7. Based on your description, we will give you an initial idea of what might be wrong and an estimated cost range. This is not a binding quote — the exact diagnosis happens when we have the console on the bench — but it gives you an idea of what to expect before you commit to sending it in.
Step 2: Sending Your Console
You have two options for getting your console to us. If you are in the Boksburg or East Rand area, you can drop it off at our workshop at 6 Bester Street, Witfield, Boksburg during business hours (Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:00, Friday to Saturday 08:00-13:00).
If you are anywhere else in South Africa, we arrange a courier to collect from your door. We will send you packaging instructions via WhatsApp: use the original box if you have it, or a sturdy box with at least 5cm of foam or bubble wrap padding on all sides. Remove any discs from the drive. Your console is fully insured during courier transit.
Step 3: Professional Diagnosis
Once your console arrives at our workshop, a technician performs a full diagnostic. This is not a quick glance — we systematically test power delivery, video output, disc drive function, thermal performance, and board-level circuits to identify the exact fault.
You receive a detailed diagnosis via WhatsApp, complete with photos of what we found. We explain the problem in plain English — not just "the motherboard is faulty," but specifically which component has failed and why. You then receive a firm quote for the repair. This is the final price — no surprises, no hidden extras.
Step 4: The Repair
Once you approve the quote, we proceed with the repair. Our workshop is equipped with professional tools including a hot air rework station, preheater, stereo microscope, DC power supply for bench testing, and a full range of diagnostic equipment.
For micro-soldering work (HDMI ports, IC chips, trace repair), we use a hot air rework station with precise temperature control — never a basic soldering iron. For thermal work, we use high-quality thermal paste (and liquid metal where required for PS5). For disc drive repairs, we have a stock of replacement mechanisms and laser assemblies for all console models.
Most repairs are completed within 3 to 5 working days. We keep you updated via WhatsApp throughout the process.
Step 5: Testing & Quality Assurance
Every repair goes through a thorough testing process before we consider it complete. We do not just check that the specific fault is fixed — we test the entire console to make sure nothing else was affected.
For HDMI repairs, we test on multiple displays at different resolutions. For thermal work, we run the console under load and monitor temperatures to ensure they are within safe limits. For disc drive repairs, we test with multiple discs. For power supply repairs, we monitor voltages under load.
Only when we are satisfied that the console is functioning correctly across all parameters do we mark the repair as complete and contact you for collection or delivery.
Step 6: Return & Warranty
Once the repair is complete, you can collect your console from our workshop or we courier it back to your door. We package it securely and insure it for the return journey.
Every repair includes our 6-month money-back warranty. This means if the same fault recurs within 6 months of the repair, we will fix it again at no charge — or refund you. The warranty is clearly stated on your invoice. We also keep a record of every repair we perform, so if you contact us about a warranty issue, we can quickly look up exactly what was done.
We send your invoice via WhatsApp, which serves as your warranty document and proof of repair for insurance purposes if needed.
